This session will explore the approaches and decision-making process necessary to best leverage assistive technology tools to increase inclusive environments across a K-12 school district. This will include an overview of the philosophical mindset used in choosing assistive technology tools as well as a review of the tools we use the most. The session will provide anecdotal evidence and data to support approaches that Ithaca City School District has adopted. Time will also be dedicated to discuss the tension between being student centered while trying to also be cost/time efficient. We will also explore the strategies used to build teacher capacity around technology integration using these assistive technology tools.
