Literacy centers are a cornerstone of an effective reading block. Well planned independent activities provide valuable practice and learning opportunities for students while freeing up teachers to work with small reading groups at instructional levels. Managing independent centers to ensure all students are actively engaged, on task and receiving valuable feedback can be difficult. This session will look at how blended learning centers can increase the engagement and effectiveness of literacy centers allowing teachers to collect useful data, monitor progress, and provide valuable feedback in timely, manageable ways….in school or at home! Topics of centers will include: increasing fluency, responding to reading, vocabulary, narrative and argumentative writing, providing valuable feedback, and publishing.
