Don’t have enough time in one class period to assess each student one-on-one? This session will show you how the web can aid classroom teachers in assessing speech and language. We will explore the benefits of using web-based tools to assess each student’s speaking ability, such as rate and fluency. All featured tools can be accessed anytime, anywhere, and help student’s build confidence.

The pandemic forced us into remote teaching, without having much time to prepare. We now have a whole set of tools in our toolbox, but trying to use them effectively in a remote/hybrid environment seems exhausting! Let’s bring back the flipped classroom model: the students learn online through videos, and “face-to-face” time is repurposed and used effectively! We cannot go back to the way teaching used to be- we need to transform what teaching looks like and use our “facetime” more efficiently.

One of the most useful tools in remote learning has been screencasting. Screencasting means to record all of the actions on your screen along with your narration. Teachers in every grade level are using screencasts to review daily work, provide a tour of a new software/platform, record a lesson, and much, much more! Participants will learn screencasting tools, the pros and cons of each, how to share screencasts with their students on any platform, and pro tips on what makes a good screencast.
